Pollack Fillet Portion

Pollack has the same uses in the kitchen as Cod and is recommended as sustainable alternative. The flesh is not as white but taste and texture are as good as both Cod and Haddock. Available year round pollack is especially in demand in Spring when other fish are out of season. Pollack is often referred to as Lythe because of it’s long slender body shape.
Pollack is caught singly or in small groups in the North Atlantic and is plentiful in deep waters around the British Isles. It has a dark metallic green back sometimes bronze-golden flanks and a silver belly. Like cod it has a ‘step’ in the lateral line. Its protruding lower jaw distinguishes it from the similar looking Cod or Coley.
